Procedural Sedation

Goal

To reduce risks and negative outcomes associated with procedural sedation through the implementation of a Procedural Sedation Policy.

Brief Description

A Procedural Sedation Policy has been developed for frontline staff (e.g., nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians). It outlines all equipment, supplies, competencies, and accountability required for caring for adult patients receiving procedural sedation. Formal educational content has been developed; however, the implementation and sustainability of the policy must still be determined.
