Goal

This research study focused on the JUMPSTART early mobilization/low-impact exercise program. The objectives were to identify barriers and enablers for mobilization and exercise rehabilitation; to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and adoption of the JUMPSTART program, and make improvements as needed; to assess the preliminary effect of the program on quality of life; and to improve engagement in conventional cardiac rehabilitation.

Study Description

The JUMPSTART program was developed for patients that undergo transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR procedures) at the Hamilton General Hospital. The program consists of exercise videos that are approximately 20 minutes long and can easily be accessed online. Patients that consented to participate in the research study were invited to complete two surveys. Survey questions focused on program preferences and satisfaction, potential barriers and facilitators to participation (in both the JUMPSTART program and cardiac rehabilitation programs), and quality of life.
